Hi families,
I wanted to pass along the course information website WGSS shared with us this week. The linked buttons below contain the course information for Grade 8 as well as applications for specialized programs including English Honours 8, Gator Pod, and challenging Math 8 to skip into Math 9. There is also a directory for all of the extracurricular club offerings from this school year.
I have also linked the Timelines page because the above-mentioned specialized programs have deadlines if your child wishes to apply. Please note that English Honours 8 and skipping Math 8 both require assessments that are written at the high school. These students will also need to ask their teacher for a character/academic reference. Students were taught how to ask for a reference from another person in a professional manner, just as they would for job or educational opportunities in the future. The deadline for the reference forms is Friday, February 23 so students should ask their teacher well in advance if they would like a reference written.
Please watch for the WGSS registration forms coming home with your child this week and take some time to peruse the information below.
The MyEdBC registration and online applications for special programs open on February 13th. All forms and online registrations need to be completed by February 23rd. Registration forms need to be returned to classroom teachers at DPE - there is no need to bring them into the high school.
Any questions you have about the registration process or about specific courses/offerings at WGSS can be directed to the Grade 8 counsellor - Andrea Ruffo. Her email is aruffo@sd35.bc.ca.
